Why Tuition Instead of Pay-Per-Session?

Reading growth—especially for students with dyslexia—doesn’t happen in isolated sessions. It happens through consistent, cumulative instruction over time.

For that reason, services at The Reading Teacher are offered using a semester-based tuition model, rather than pay-per-session. This approach reflects how reading intervention actually works and allows us to provide the highest quality instruction while protecting consistent progress for students.

Tuition also allows us to provide support outside of sessions, including progress monitoring, planning, and communication with families — all of which are essential parts of effective dyslexia intervention.

What Tuition Covers

Tuition reflects much more than the time your child spends in a session. It includes:

  • ✔️ Individualized lesson planning based on your child’s needs

  • ✔️ Structured, evidence-based instruction grounded in the science of reading

  • ✔️ Ongoing assessment and progress monitoring

  • ✔️ Instructional materials and resources

  • ✔️ Professional expertise and advanced training in structured literacy and dyslexia intervention

  • ✔️ Consistent scheduling reserved exclusively for your child

  • ✔️ Communication adn coordination with families

Your tuition secures a dedicated place on our schedule, ensuring continuity, routine, and momentum. Rather than paying for individual sessions, families are enrolling in a structured program designed to support long-term reading growth.

Why Consistency Matters

Research and clinical experience consistently show that students make the strongest gains when instruction is:

  • Frequent (2–3 sessions per week)

  • Sequential and cumulative

  • Delivered over months and sometimes years—not weeks

Why We Require a Minimum Commitment

Because reading intervention builds step by step, services are offered with a minimum enrollment period.

This allows time to:

  • Establish routines

  • Build foundational skills

  • Monitor progress meaningfully

  • Adjust instruction thoughtfully

Families often report that once progress becomes visible, the value of sustained instruction becomes very clear.

Why We Are Self-Pay

Services at The Reading Teacher are self-pay only and are not billed to insurance.

This allows:

  • Full instructional flexibility

  • No diagnosis-driven session limits

  • No third-party interference in instructional decisions

  • A focus on what your child actually needs—not what insurance dictates

Many families view this as an investment in their child’s long-term academic confidence and independence.

A Note on Availability

Because sessions are individualized and scheduled consistently, availability is limited. At times, a waitlist may be necessary to ensure quality and sustainability of services.

Our Commitment to Families

Our goal is not simply to “tutor,” but to:

  • Build strong, confident readers

  • Reduce stress around reading and school

  • Provide clear communication and realistic expectations

  • Partner with families over time

If you have questions about whether services are a good fit for your child or family, we are always happy to discuss options.
